Participating in a Language Teaching MOOC, and currently studying a language, has led me to want to know more about language teaching methodologies. Of course, during my CELTA training, I was exposed to an array of methodologies.

However, the one that that really resonated with me was CLT, or Communicative Language Teaching. That is not to say that others are not valid, or that CLT is the only way. Indeed, I want to refresh myself of all the techniques and approaches that are in current use, in order to widen by own skill set.

And with this knowledge I hope to tentatively approach the TCFL world. I want to know what methodologies are studied within TCFL. What arguments are raging in terms of pedagogy? What ground-breaking research is being undertaken? What are the cutting-edge developments? Well, Betty Davis said it best, “Fasten your seat belts. It’s going to be a bumpy night.”
