About Me

Karina Thorne

I am a 30-something British female English Teacher, based in Beijing, China. With a background in Energy Trading, and a penchant for learning languages, I am relatively new to the teaching world, with just five years under my belt. Looking to up-skill, to benefit my students, as well as myself, I reviewed my skills and interests some time ago , and found that what I really wanted was to extend and formalise the initial steps I had taken to integrate technology in my classroom. So, the up-skilling comes in the form of a Masters degree with the University of Nottingham. In order to feel contextually confident with digital tools (Kessler & Plakans, 2008), to integrate their use innovatively to attain a state of normalisation (Bax, 2003), I am reading Digital Technologies for Language Teaching.
