第七位汉语老师不是一个很专业的教师。他只教汉语一年了
For Teacher 7, seeing her students gradually express themselves in Chinese, is a great sense of accomplishment, and the main reason why she became a teacher.
She teaches adult beginners.
She has been trained as a “Foreign Language Teacher”. Her language teaching philosophy comes from the north of China. The training mainly teaches students how to apply their knowledge.
According to Teacher 7, her teaching method revolves around teaching students to live and work using the Chinese language. “The status quo is a lot of people are studying Chinese, few people really learned to use it in everyday life, except those foreign students studying for a Masters degree or above.”
Teacher 7 uses PPT’s in the classroom. In terms of study materials she uses some language textbook published in Northern China and some foreign language teaching websites.
She has participated in a Professional Development programme and has obtained a certificate. However, it is unclear where and when this occurred.
Teacher 7 likes to produce a lot of teaching materials, as this makes the classroom more vivid.
Some of her students write Chinese characters, others simply want to learn to write the alphabet.
Teacher 7 sometimes deems it necessary to communicate with her students in their native language*, especially when teaching beginners.
*Here I interpret “native language” to mean English. But, of course, I would say it more likely that her students’ mother tongue was not English. But that’s a point for another day.
