Victoire Terminus

Just back from the screening of Victoire Terminus, a Congolese film about female boxers. This documentary was shown as part of the first Chinese Women Film Festival (which includes international films). Set against Congo’s first free elections during the summer of 2006, the story revolves around a trio of girls who box for a living. Where destitution or prostitution are the only choices in life, we learn how boxing provides a glimmer of hope to our protagonists.
